Solar

There are two options available for generating useful energy from solar power.

Solar Photo-Voltaic (PV)

Solar panels can be free standing or mounted on the roof of dwellings and/or farm buildings. They produce electricity for self-supply and/or export to the national grid, which could be invaluable for a business with high energy demands, or one looking to diversify income through long-term investment. We can advise and help you with:

  • feasibility studies
  • advising on option and lease agreements
  • planning
  • valuation of renewable installations
  • project management
  • capitalisation of income

Space, combined with capital expenditure, usually dictates the size of system that can be installed. We are working with solar installers and financiers who will back projects enabling landowners to invest their own capital and receive ‘top-up finance’ to ensure the best use of the space available by installing a system that can produce higher returns. A 4KW system, for example, will power your farmhouse, office and basic farm buildings. This size system will fit easily onto a barn roof.
For information on larger roof-mounted installations, please contact us.

If you are looking to install a ‘solar farm’ over a number of acres it is vital that you seek advice in respect to:

  • drawing up option or lease
  • self or developer funded
  • grid connections
  • planning permission
  • using the best technology (Tier 1 equipment)

Solar Thermal

For any business using large quantities of hot water, this should not be overlooked as it could significantly reduce overheads. We offer advice on:

  • Heating systems for dairies & businesses using large quantities of hot water
  • Solar thermal feasibility for your business
  • The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) presents opportunities to receive a payment similar to the Feed In Tariff for the production of hot water.
Please contact us to discuss how solar thermal could work for your business.
