Dispute Resolution

At Townsend Chartered Surveyors we know that disagreements arising out of property ownership and occupation are a sad fact of modern life and can often escalate into unpleasant and highly stressful disputes. Our trained staff have the experience and professionalism to help resolve these potentially litigious cases with sensitivity and care.

We provide a full arbitration service, expert witness reports, valuations and independent expert advice, all of which can assist at any stage of a dispute. Our overriding aim is to attempt to settle a dispute before it ends up in court or arbitration, when the professional fees and other costs, both financial and emotional, all too often outweigh the benefit of any imposed settlement.

We also have a dedicated team handling BPS Dispute Resolution, which is having success representing farming clients and resolving disputes throughout the UK with the RPA, SGRPID, RPW, and DAERA.

We always execute our instructions in accordance with statutory and professional requirements, and present technical and complicated issues in a clear and understandable way. If required we are able to give evidence in court, land tribunals and arbitrations, and always ensure we have the full background information so we can confidently sustain an opinion under cross examination.

Hugh Townsend is an RICS trained arbitrator and has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 1995.
