Fishing – Trews Weir Fishery

- SOLD
Probably the finest wild coarse fishery south of Bristol, and an historic salmon fishery on the River Exe, with 2.46 acres of river bank and mooring in the city centre. 267 yards of double bank fishing, 464 yards of single bank fishing with an additional 410 yards of boat fishing, giving 10 acres of water.
THE RIVER EXE The river is probably the best known, and most productive, salmon river in the West Country. The river rises on Exmoor and flows south across the moor, down wooded valleys and through the rich farmland of the Exe valley. The river subsequently passes through the city of Exeter until it reaches the sea at Exmouth.
TREWS WEIR Trews Weir is in Exeter Riverside Valley Park, which comes into the heart of the city, between the River Exe and Exeter canal, connecting to open countryside, the estuary and the river mouth to the South. Trews Weir Fishery lies above and below Trews Weir, running south towards Salmon Pool Weir. On the east bank between points C and D (marked on the attached plan) there are 267 yards of single bank fishing, running past the suspension bridge. Between D and E the fishing rights are owned from the midway point in the river to the east bank, but these waters can only be accessed by boat and not from the east bank, which is part of the City Council’s Belle Isle Park and has public access. Fishing rights are also included around both the west and east islands either side of Trews Weir, and the “lagoon” to the east of the Weir. There are also 732 yards of single bank fishing between A and B on the west bank. Also included is ownership of the river bed to the midpoint running the length of the bank adjoining the Allotment land F—B. The closest parking is in Trews Weir Reach, or on the allotment site, which is ideal and secure for night sittings or overnight fishing.
