6.41 acres (2.59 ha) of wood and an access strip is offered for sale just 7 miles from Hereford.

The Soil Survey of England and Wales shows all the land to be Escrick 1 “a reddish till described as a deep well-drained reddish coarse loamy soil”.

Crockshill Wood to the North of Pyon Hill wood is a separate copse of predominantly 50-60 year old Larch, Scot’s Pine and Douglas Fir. The woodland is not designated an ancient woodland and is not included in any grant, management  or stewardship agreement.
