Testimonial – David Shepherd
I came to Townsend Chartered Surveyors having spent nearly three years working in North Lincolnshire for a small land agency firm. I joined the firm as a newly qualified (MRICS) assistant surveyor.
I was given a high level of responsibility and client contact from day one with support from the senior partner. The following year I was responsible for completing all the BPS applications for the firm’s clients as well as dealing with utilities compensation claims and dealing with a new estate management client. After completing the BPS claims in 2018 I was promoted to an associate of the firm in May 2018.
I have worked closely with the senior partner and have benefitted from daily and weekly meetings to help improve my skills as a surveyor. I found that I have been able to undertake a wide and diverse work load as well as focussing on areas which interest me most. I completed my CAAV training and ended up with a number of management clients dealing with a diverse, wide and interesting range of issues.
I have continually been given more responsibility and eventually was responsible for overseeing all the firm’s BPS applications, Countryside Stewardship applications and at times the entitlement trading desk, as well as overseeing and managing a graduate and an apprentice surveyor on a day-to-day basis.
The training and experience I have gained whilst working for Townsend Chartered Surveyors has been invaluable in my progression as a surveyor, considerably raising the standard of work I now provide to clients, with added value and a more involved and improved level of client communication.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a member of this small and competent team of surveyors and I am sad to be leaving to be returning home.
